Beauty in my Backyard
Living on the coast can sometimes leave you taking your everyday scenery for granted. Sure, it's beautiful and I acknowledge that, but for some reason I find myself not fully appreciating how close I live to it all. Recent events in my life allowed me to spend more time in my favorite places along the Pacifica coastline. I'd break out of the house to take a short walk and always had my camera in hand. I've shot some of the same pictures a hundred times of the same places. The other day I put a different lens on my camera and a whole new world opened up as I put my eye to the viewfinder. I've never shoot with anything above a 200mm before and now I had the new Fuji 100-400mm. I'm in love with it.
After times like these I think about how lucky I am to live on the coast and California in general. There's so much to see. Completely new experiences of all kinds are about 5 hours way. You want mountains? Check! Desert? Check. Ocean? Check!
I guess all this is for a simple message. Get outside and open your eyes. Look at things with new eyes. Keep things fresh and find inspiration.
