Curry Mural

Oakland is buzzing with excitement!

Our Golden State Warriors are the NBA Champions after a 40 year drought. With that, Stephen Curry became MVP of the league after only 2 years ago being snubbed as an All Star. To pay tribute, local street artists ‎@illuminaries, transformed this shitty abandoned building into a beautiful mural.

This new landmark sits on the corner of 27th and Northgate in Oakland, CA. This is something to see, truly a piece of art. I had to hop the fence to get in, but once I did I was able to really look at all detail that went into this piece.

I like seeing well done street art. Now this building, once an eye sore, is something to look at. It's a place people want to go to. A place to snap a picture in front of, a place to meet other fans. It's creating a nice little buzz in the Bay Area which helps bring the community together. I was here for about 30 minutes and saw at least 10 different groups come take pictures. All kinds of people from different places come to see it. It's great.

Blue and Gold baby!

There are a lot of little Bay Area/Oakland references throughout the mural. Very well through out. Looks like the finishing touches were put on the day before during the Warriors celebratory Parade based on some extra cans of paint I saw laying around. That and the addition of the Larry O'Brien trophy on the wall!

After a party as big as they had in Oakland yesterday, everything was surprisingly cleaned up. Good job everyone!

If you find yourselves in Oakland, stop by and check it out. It's a new landmark I hope finds its home and remains for a long time. Thanks to ‎@illuminaries for the hard work and giving us something special to look at.
