Year End Road Trip 2014: Part 3

Hello Oregon

Starting to put on the miles and finally feeling like I'm getting away. The sun just fully rose and I'm crossing the Nevada/Oregon state line.

Not a lot out here, but when there is, it stops me every time. I love coming across old areas previously working or occupied in some way, now broken leaving only the texture of time past.

To help pass the time in this first part of the trip I've been listening to podcasts, mostly "The Candid Frame", I could listen to this all day. Makes time fly by. That and pulling off the road randomly to explore off roads or snapping quick landscape pics. Nothing better than the feeling of having nowhere to be by anytime. Sit back and enjoy the trip.

The Rig

Love this sign! Promises a lot, none of which are in sight?

As I put on the miles I quickly stopped in Nampa Idaho for the night to see my dad. We got to talking about where to go next and knowing I like old mining and ghost towns he suggested I try to make my way out to Silver City. It could be closed for the winter but might as well give it a shot, right? Sounds like it's about 20 to 25 miles off any main road into the mountains. Here goes nothing...

Photo. Video. Adventure. Let's go outside.
